HM Coastguard requested the launch of Falmouth’s inshore lifeboat Robina Nixon Chard on the morning of Tuesday 11 August to carry out a medical evacuation of the sole occupant of a yacht at anchor.

Having launched at 5.52am, the inshore lifeboat with Helm Jamie Wakefield and crew Joe Amps, Tamara Brookes and Chris Simpson made their way across the Fal and past St Mawes to the Percuil River, arriving on scene at 06:11am. Two lifeboat crew trained in casualty care went on board the yacht to assess the individual’s condition before the casualty was transferred to the inshore lifeboat. The casualty was then taken back to Falmouth Lifeboat station to await an ambulance.
