At 00:37 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following reports of a yacht aground at Porthkerris. The Porthoustock and Mullion Coastguard Rescue Teams were also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 00:48, with the All Weather Lifeboat leaving its pontoon berth shortly afterwards at 00:51. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene off Porthkerris at 01:11 and located the yacht close to the rocks on the east side of Porthkerris Beach. The yacht was being held clear of the rocks by a small local boat so the Inshore Lifeboat placed a crew member on board the yacht before taking it in tow. The All Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at 01:18 and stood by while the yacht was towed into deeper water.

The decision was taken that the Inshore Lifeboat would tow the yacht into the Helford and once good progress was being made towards Nare Point, at 01:37 the All Weather Lifeboat was released to return to its station. The All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 02:00, where it was made ready for service by 02:15.

The Inshore Lifeboat headed up the Helford River and by 02:42 had placed the yacht on its mooring off Helford Village. Due to concerns for the wellbeing of the skipper of the yacht the Inshore Lifeboat remained on scene and provided additional support eventually being released to return to its station at 04:33. The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 04:55 and was refuelled and made ready for service by 05:15.
