At 11:09 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 10m Fishing Boat Girl Penny which had reported having a fouled propeller in a position 4 miles East North East of Zone Point.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 11:15 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the east arriving on scene at 11:45. A tow line was passed to the vessel and at 11:50 the tow back into Falmouth commenced. Once back inside the Inner Harbour the fishing boat was strapped alongside the lifeboat and was then taken up the Penryn River and placed on its mooring at 13:00, the All Weather Lifeboat then being released to return to its station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth at 13:15, with the lifeboat being refuelled and ready for service by 13:30.

The fishing boat which had two people on board had fouled its propeller on what was believed to be an old discarded net that was floating on the surface. The crew had tried to free it with no joy, so had choice but to contact the Coastguard to request assistance.
