At 08:37, Falmouth All-Weather Lifeboat was preparing to launch to assist with the Castle to Castle Swim when the Falmouth Coastguard requested the lifeboat launch, to provide medical assistance. The incident involved a crewman on a fishing boat, four miles east of Zone Point. A Coastguard Helicopter was also tasked to assist.

The All-Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 08:43 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the east, arriving on scene at 09:00. A lifeboat crew member trained in casualty care, and the lifeboat doctor, were transferred to the fishing vessel to assess the casualty. Once on scene, the helicopter winched its paramedic down to the lifeboat which then transferred them to the fishing vessel. Having been stabilised, the casualty was transferred to the lifeboat before being winched up into the helicopter for the short journey to Treliske Hospital. Once the crew and equipment had been recovered from the fishing vessel at 09:50, the lifeboat was released to return to the swim.
