At 11:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 10m Motorboat Ocean Drive which had reported flooding in its engine room. The vessel had two people on board and was ½ mile east of Killigerran Head.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 11:28 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the east. The lifeboat rendezvoused with the vessel which was making its way back towards Falmouth at 11:44 and two lifeboat crewmembers were transferred to the vessel. The source of the ingress had been identified and addressed so the lifeboat escorted the vessel into Falmouth Inner Harbour where it was moored on a visitors mooring. Thorough checks were carried out to ensure there was not any further sources of water ingress but with nonevident at 12:34 the lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 12:43 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 12:50.

The water ingress had been caused due to a problem with a coolant pipe on one of its engines. This engine was shut down which eliminated the ingress and the water level in the engine compartment was reduced using the vessels pumps.
