At 12:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched following a Mayday call from the 8m Yacht Tumme Lisa with one person on board reporting that it was taking on water while off St Mawes Castle.
The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 12:13 and headed out the harbour where they met the yacht off Falmouth Docks at 12:20. The skipper confirmed that he was happy that the water ingress had stopped so the yacht was escorted into the Falmouth Yacht Haven where she was safely moored at 12:30. Two lifeboat crew members went on board to confirm there had been no further ingress of water and at 12:40 the All Weather Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 12:50 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 13:05.
The yacht had been motor sailing when the skipper had become aware of the water in its bilges. It appears that the water had thankfully come from a source within the yacht and that there was no external ingress of water.
