At 18:21 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 11m Yacht Enigma of Falmouth which had reported an engine fire while approaching the Eastern Arm of Falmouth Docks. Other vessels in the area also responded to the yachts call.

The All Weather Lifeboat which left its pontoon berth at 18:30 and arrived on scene at 18:37. The yacht had dropped its anchor and had a dive boat standing by it. A lifeboatman was placed on board the yacht and confirmed that the engine compartment appeared warm but there was no sign of fire. The yacht was strapped alongside the lifeboat and towed into the inner harbour where further assistance could be summoned if required. On inspection it was confirmed that the engine had in fact over heated and that no fire had taken place so the yacht was placed on its mooring in the Inner Harbour and at 19:25 the lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 19:35, while the Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 08:15, both lifeboats being refuelled and ready for service by 19:50.
