At 14:54 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched following a Pan Pan call from a 10m Yacht with four persons on board which had reported grounding on August Rock at entrance to the Helford.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 15:02 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed across Falmouth Bay, arriving on scene off August Rock at 15:18. The yacht was located aground on the western side of the rock with its anchor deployed. The lifeboats inflatable Y-Boat was launched and placed one of the lifeboat crew on the yacht. At 15:29 the yacht re-floated and having recovered its anchor it was guided away from the rock into deeper water. Once it was confirmed that there was no water ingress the yacht was escorted by the lifeboat towards Falmouth. On entering the harbour, the lifeboat crew member was recovered and at 16:20 the lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 16:35 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 16:55.

The yacht was on passage from the Helford to Falmouth when it ran aground. There were no injuries on board and the yacht proceeded back to its berth in Falmouth under its own power.
