At 19:06 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 9.8m Fishing Boat Toni Lou (FH6) which had two persons on board and had reported being adrift in Gerrans Bay.

The All-Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 19:17 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the East arriving on scene one-mile East of Portscatho at 19:42. A tow line was passed to the vessel and at 19:48 the tow back to Falmouth commenced. On entering the entrance to Falmouth Harbour the tow was shortened and the vessel was strapped alongside the lifeboat so that it could be placed on the pontoons at Port Pendennis Marina. The fishing boat was safely secured alongside at the marina by 20:59 and the lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The All-Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 21:08 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service again by 21:25.

The fishing boat is used for scallop diving and had been on passage from Mylor to Fowey when it had suffered an issue with its fuel system. While it had been drifting out to sea and in no immediate danger, there were no other vessels in the area, so the decision was made to request the lifeboat to tow the vessel back to port before the weather deteriorated.
