Fishing Boat Samuel J broken down

All weather lifeboat: (Launched 15:22 / Returned 18:10) – Jonathon Blakeston (Coxswain), Carl Beardmore, Dave Nicoll, Will Allen, Andy Edwards, Wendy Rabett, Lloyd Barron
Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 17:30 / Returned 18:05) – Luke Wills (Helmsman), Andy Jenkin
At 15:09 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 6.5m Fishing Boat Samuel J with one person on board which had broken down 4 miles South of Dodman Point.
The All Weather Lifeboat which left its pontoon berth at 15:22 and having rounded Zone Point, set a course to the east arriving on scene at 15:55. Due to heavy swell that was running a drogue was passed to the casualty before the a tow line was connected, the tow to Falmouth commencing at 16:15.
The Lifeboat and casualty passed St Anthony Lighthouse at 17:15 and once off the Docks the towline was recovered and the fishing boat was strapped alongside the lifeboat so it could be placed on a mooring in the Inner Harbour. The stations Boarding Boat was launched at 17:30 to assist with mooring the boat. The Fishing Boat was safely placed on the visitors mooring in the harbour by 18:00 and the All Weather Lifeboat and the Boarding Boat were released to return to their station.
The Boarding Boat was back on its pontoon dock by 18:05. With the All Weather Lifeboat back alongside its pontoon berth by 18:10 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 18:25.
The newly purchased Fishing Boat was on passage from Brixham to Malpas in the Truro River when it broke down. Due to the heavy swell the skipper had been unable to rectify the fault so had asked for assistance.
