At 18:03 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a 4.5m Motor Boat with two people on board which was reported being broken down 1 mile East of Porthoustock.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 18:16 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed across Falmouth Bay arriving on scene at 18:30. A tow line was passed to the boat and at 18:35 the tow back to Gillan Creek commenced. The boat was safely placed on its mooring at 19:06 and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 19:25 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:45.
The boat had been on a fishing trip when its engine had failed. The Coastguard had put out a broadcast to any other vessels in the area to assist, but when none came forward the decision was made to launch the Inshore Lifeboat to assist.
