Details:

At 10:57 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist 9m yacht with one person on board which had reported suffering steering failure 5 miles Southeast of Zone Point.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 11:06 and having rounded Zone Point headed seaward locating the yacht at 11:39. Two lifeboat crew were placed on board the yacht and a tow line was passed to the yacht before it was towed to the Port Pendennis Marina where it was safely moored at 13:12, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 13:14 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 13:30.

The lifeboat crew managed to secure the rudder and monitored a small water ingress. The yacht is on passage to Wales and had been assisted by the Fowey Lifeboat the previous evening.
