Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 13:38 / Returned 15:17) – Jamie Wakefield (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Tamara Brookes, Chris Simpson

At 13:29 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist in the treatment and evacuation of an injured person at Bream Cove. The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were already on scene and had requested additional support from the Inshore Lifeboat.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 13:38 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed across the bay arriving off Bream Cove at 14:00. Two casualty care trained members of the lifeboat crew were placed ashore to assess the casualty and provide additional pain relief. With the assistance of the Coastguard Team the casualty was transferred by stretcher to the Inshore Lifeboat and was taken to Maenporth Beach where they were landed safely at 15:02, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 15:17 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 15:35.

The decision had been taken to evacuate the casualty by sea due to the limited vehicle access to the cove. Once the casualty was safely landed at Maenporth they were taken to hospital in the family’s vehicle. The Lifeboat Crew and Coastguard Team were grateful for the assistance given by a doctor who had been walking nearby.
