Report of body in the water

At 11:24 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a potential body reported in the water in the Truro River above Boscawen Park. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked with their specialist mud rescue equipment, along with the police units and an ambulance.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 11:36 and started heading out the harbour into the Carrick Roads but at 11:39 as the Inshore Lifeboat was passing the Queens Wharf it was confirmed that the body had been recovered and that the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat was no longer required so it was released to released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 11:43 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 12:10.

The body was recovered by one of the Truro Harbour Masters launches and landed into the care of the police. The circumstances leading to this person ending up in the river are unknown, but our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.
