Inshore lifeboat (Launched 15:00 / Returned 16:35) – Claire Angove (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Tom Telford

At 14:54 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a jet ski broken down off Kiberick Cove in Veryan Bay and drifting towards the rocks. The coastguard put out a broadcast on the VHF Channel 16 to request assistance from any other vessels in the area.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 15:00 and having rounded Zone Point headed east up the coast arriving on scene at 15:20. The yacht Adios had responded to the coastguards broadcast and had launched its tender to tow the Jet Ski and its two occupants away from the rocks. The two occupants were transferred to the inshore lifeboat before it took over the tow back to the Percuil River where they were safely landed at the Percuil Sailing Club near Pelyn Creek at 16:00. Once the Inshore Lifeboat had stowed its equipment at 16:10 it was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 16:35 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 16:45.

The occupants of the Jet Ski advised the Inshore Lifeboat crew that they had broken down two hours earlier but had not got any means to raise the alarm so had drifted towards the shore. Safety advice was given, especially in respect to carrying a suitable means of communication.
