At 17:22 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from a Drascombe Lugger with three people on board which had reported being aground at Greatwood near Mylor Harbour.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 17:30 and headed up the Carrick Roads arriving on scene at 17:41. Two of the occupants were ashore while the third person was in the water holding the boat. A lifeboat crew member was placed ashore to access the situation and got the casualties back on board the boat before it was towed off the shore. It was then taken to Mylor Harbour where it was safely secured at 18:17, the Inshore Lifeboat then being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 18:33 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 18:50.

The boats outboard engine had failed, and it had drifted onto the lee shore, so the occupants had contacted the Coastguard to request assistance
