At 17:32 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a person being trapped at Sailors Creek, Penryn River. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Paramedics, Critical Care Doctors and Police were also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:43 and headed up the harbour into Penryn River arriving on scene at Sailors Creek at 17:50. A number of search and rescue personnel were already on scene and the Inshore Lifeboat was requested to assist in transporting the casualty from the creek to the nearby Trevissome Slipway. The lifeboat placed a number of crew ashore with their stretcher and the casualty was transferred to the lifeboat accompanied by two critical care doctors. The casualty was landed at Trevissome where an ambulance was waiting. At 18:49 the inshore lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 18:58 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:45.
Sadly, despite all the efforts of the emergency personnel the casualty was confirmed as deceased a short time later. Our thoughts go out to the casualty’s family and friends at this difficult time.
