Inshore lifeboat (Launched 18:15 / Returned 19:06) – Jonathan Hackwell (Helmsman), Tom Telford, Jamie Connoly

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was on its slipway being washed down after attending the Point and Penpol Regatta when at 18:13 Falmouth Coastguard contacted the lifeboat station to request the launch of the Inshore Lifeboat following a 999 call from a 7m Open Boat with two persons on board which reported being broken down off Little Molunan Beach.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:15 and arrived on scene off the beach at 18:20. A towline was passed to the vessel and at 18:27 the tow back to the Percuil River commenced. By 18:53 the boat had been safely placed on its mooring off Freshwater Boatyard in the Percuil River and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 19:06 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:20.

The boat had suffered a complete engine failure and as they did not have a VHF radio they had used their mobile phone to contact the coastguard to request assistance.
