At 14:25 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a 4m vessel with three persons on board which had suffered engine failure two miles East of Maenporth Beach. A rigid inflatable was standing by the vessel but was unable to tow it.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 14:30 and having rounded Pendennis Point across Falmouth Bay arriving on scene at 14:50. The three casualties were transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat before a tow line was connected. The vessel was towed back into Falmouth where it was safely moored at the Port Pendennis Marina at 15:20, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 15:25 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 15:40.
The occupants of the vessel had contacted the Coastguard when they had suffered engine failure. A Rigid Inflatable stood by the vessel but with no commercial tow available the Inshore Lifeboat was tasked to assist and towed the vessel back into Falmouth.
