At 18:42 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a 4.5-meter Rigid Inflatable which had ended up on Penarrow Point after breaking down. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team were also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:53 and arrived off Penarrow Point at 18:58. The boat and its two occupants were located close to the shore on Penarrow Point with its occupants holding it off the rocks. A tow line was passed to the boat and once it had been pulled clear of the rocks it was taken back to the slipway at Mylor Harbour where it was recovered. At 19:28 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 19:35 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:58.
The Rigid Inflatable had been passing Penarrow Point in the Carrick Roads when its outboard had failed, and they had managed to reach the shoreline where they held the boat off the rocks while awaiting assistance.
