Two people stranded on yacht

Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 11:13 / Returned 11:55) – Neil Capper (Helmsman), Jamie Wakefield, Tamsin Mulcahy, Joe Amps


At 11:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist two people stranded on a yacht off Penryn Quay. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team were also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 11:13 and headed up the Penryn River arriving off Penryn Quay at 11:24. The two occupants of the boat were collected from a moored yacht in the channel and with their punt they were taken back to the pontoon at the quay where they were met by the Coastguard Team. The Inshore Lifeboat was at 11:34 released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 11:55 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 12:15.

The Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team had been tasked to check on the welfare of the two people whose outboard on their punt had broken down and due therefore due to the inclement weather had left them stuck on their yacht. They therefore requested the launch of the Inshore Lifeboat to assist.
