Yacht Pegasus with an engine fire

Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 22:07 / Returned 23:42) – Nick Head (Helmsman), Jamie Connoly, Josh Williams
At 22:00 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 6m Yacht Pegasus with two persons on board which has suffered and engine fire.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 22:07 and headed out past Pendennis Point arriving on scene at 22:14. Having checked that the fire was out and no medical assistance was required a line was passed to the yacht and at 22:22 the tow back to the yachts mooring off Loe Beach commenced. The yacht was safely secured to its mooring at 23:30 the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 23:42 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 23:59.
The yachts outboard had caught fire but was extinguished by the yachts crew although it was extensively damaged. The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to ensure the fire was out and to assist the yacht back to its mooring in the light airs.
