At 17:37 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a person in difficulties in the water off Greenbank Quay. Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team and Ambulance Paramedics were also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:42 and headed up the harbour arriving on scene at 17:45. It was soon confirmed that the casualty had been recovered from the water and was being treated by paramedics ashore. Once it had been confirmed that no further assistance was required the Inshore Lifeboat was at 17:50 released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 17:55 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 18:10.
A member of the public at Greenbank had spotted the person in difficulties and having first alerted the Coastguard then entered the water themselves to assist the casualty who they brought back to the shore. This person’s quick thinking and actions undoubtably saved this person’s life.
