Location: Between Flushing and Kiln Quays, Falmouth Inner Harbour

Weather: E 3, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny

Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 07:32 / Returned 08:20) – Elliot Holman (Helmsman), Chris Simpson, Lloyd Barron

At 07:27 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a capsized dinghy between the Flushing New Quay and Kiln Quay.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 07:32 and headed over to the Flushing side of Falmouth Inner Harbour where they located the up turned dinghy at 07:38. The crew righted the sailing dinghy which was tied to a mooring and had its sails set. Once the dinghy had been righted and checked over a search of the harbour was commenced which was completed at 07:35. The Inshore Lifeboat returned to the waterlogged dinghy which was bailed out and at 07:44 was taken in tow, arriving back at the lifeboat station at 08:05.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 08:20 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 08:40.

The reason why the fully rigged Enterprise Sailing Dinghy capsized and was secured to the mooring is a mystery.
