At 17:28 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched after receiving a 999 call from two members of the public reporting that they were cut off by the tide somewhere between Pendennis Point and Swanpool Beach. The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:35 and arrived off Pendennis Point at 17:40. The Coastguard Rescue Team positioned at Boscawen Fields quickly reported that they had located the casualties at the base of the cliff between Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beaches. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 17:44 and it was decided that the best way was to recover the casualties was by the lifeboat. By 17:54 both casualties were safely on board the lifeboat and they were then taken back to the lifeboat station where they were landed ashore at 18:10.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 18:16 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 18:30.

The two casualties had been exploring the coast when they had become cut off by the tide. The initial information they had given was limited but thanks to the local knowledge of the Coastguard Team and the Lifeboat Crew they had been quickly located and were recovered safely.
