Details:

At 09:58 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following several reports of a windsurfer in difficulties between Castle and Gyllyngvase Beaches.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 10:07 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed towards the last reported position of the windsurfer. Arriving on scene at 10:14 the windsurfer was located and was taken on board the Inshore Lifeboat along with their gear. The casualty was then taken back to Gyllyngvase Beach where they were safely landed at 10:29, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 10:38 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 11:00.

The experienced windsurfer had been caught out when the wind had suddenly dropped leaving them unable to sail clear of the lee shore. They were extremely grateful for the assistance given.
