Inshore lifeboat: (Proceeded 11:43 / Re-tasked 12:02) – Neil Capper (Helmsman), Joe Amps, Cadan Harris
At 11:39 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist an 8m yacht with three people on board which had reported having a fouled propeller and being adrift in the Penryn River. The Inshore lifeboat had just returned from an exercise and was in the process of being rehoused when the call had been received.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 11:43 and headed up the harbour and into the Penryn River, locating the yacht off the Falmouth Marina at 11:50. It was soon assessed that the yachts propeller was not fouled and the vessel was in fact aground close to the marina channel. The yachts crew were advised to deploy an anchor and await the incoming tide.
At 12:02 as the Inshore Lifeboat was about to depart the scene, they were re-tasked to assist another vessel in difficulties in Falmouth Inner Harbour.
