At 20:47 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a person and a dog in the water off Gas Works Carpark in Falmouth Inner Harbour. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team were tasked to assist along with the harbour launch Arwenack which had responded to a broadcast made by the coastguard for assistance.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 20:55 and headed up the harbour arriving on scene at 20:57. It was soon established that the person and dog had managed to get on board a moored yacht. Once it was confirmed that neither needed medical assistance and that no one else was involved, the Inshore Lifeboat towed the submerged tender back to the shore where it was made secure. The Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 21:25.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 21:29 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 21:50.

It appears that the person and dog had entered the water when the tender capsized while boarding a moored yacht. The Coastguard Team were able to quickly confirm that a second person was had not been on board the tender and was safe ashore.
