At 08:09 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to evacuate a yachtsman from his yacht which was moored in the Helford Estuary. An Ambulance was also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 08:16 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed across Falmouth Bay towards the Helford Estuary arriving on scene off Helford Passage at 08:33. Two casualty care trained lifeboat crew members were placed on board the moored yacht to assess the casualty before he was transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and taken to the beach at Helford Passage where at 08:54 the casualty was handed over to the Ambulance Paramedics for onward transport to Treliske Hospital. The Inshore Lifeboat crew gathered up all its equipment before heading back out to the yacht to ensure it was secure. Once this was complete at 09:08 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 09:31 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 09:45.
The yachtsman who was requiring medical assistance had been on the yacht by himself and therefore the Inshore Lifeboat was launched to provide immediate casualty care and to then transport the casualty ashore to the waiting paramedics.
