Inshore lifeboat (Launched 16:03 / Returned 17:28) – Daine Bush (Helmsman), Jake Ingleby, Jamie Wakefield

At 15:56 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the single handed 12m French Yacht Shamrock which had reported having engine failure 2 miles South of Pendennis Point and had requested assistance in entering the Harbour.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:03 and arrived on scene at 16:13. A lifeboat crewmember was placed on board the yacht which was still under sail and it was decided to escort the yacht into the outer harbour before taking it in tow off the Eastern Arm of the Docks. The yacht was taken to the Falmouth Haven where it was safely secured at 17:23, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 17:28 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 17:45.

The single handed skipper had been concerned about entering an unfamiliar harbour with no engine so had contacted the Coastguard to request assistance.
