Inshore lifeboat (Launched 13:41 / Returned 14:30) – Elliot Holman (Helmsman), Dave Nicoll, Josh Williams

At 13:35 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a motorboat which had been reported broken down off Castle Beach and was in danger of being blown towards the seawall.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 13:41 and as it rounded Pendennis Point it located a Ski boat with three people on board which was being towed by another vessel. The owner of the boat advised that they had broken down off Gyllyngvase Beach so having confirmed that the other boat was happy to continue with the tow the Inshore Lifeboat continued towards Castle Beach arriving on scene at 13:49 where a small motorboat was located close to the sea wall. The boat had two people on board and was taken in tow back to Falmouth Harbour where at 14:25 it was safely moored at the Grove Place Dinghy Park, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 14:30 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 14:50.

The two people on board the motor boat had been fishing off Castle Beach when their outboard engine had failed. When they were unable to restart the engine they had dropped an anchor and awaited assistance.
