At 15:30 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a person in difficulties in the water off Ski Beach between St Just and St Mawes. The Portscatho Coastguard Rescue Team, Coastguard Helicopter, Air Ambulance and land Ambulance were also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 15:38 and across the Carrick Roads, arriving on scene at 15:44. The casualty had been recovered from the water onto a nearby yacht so two lifeboat crew trained in Casualty Care were transferred to the vessel. The casualty was then transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and taken to the nearby beach where the paramedic from the Coastguard Helicopter had already been winched down and was waiting to assist. The Air Ambulance landed on the beach and its Doctor and Paramedic and provided additional medical assistance. The Inshore Lifeboat returned to the lifeboat station at 16:49 before returning to Ski Beach to recover the casualties yacht which was towed back to Falmouth Inner Harbour where it was placed on a mooring at 18:40, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 18:45 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:15.
