At 21:21, Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to take over the tow of a yacht which was being towed to Falmouth by the Lizard Lifeboat.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 21:30 and headed out to a position off Black Rock, where they rendezvoused at 21:42 with the Lizard Lifeboat and the yacht it was towing. The Inshore Lifeboat transferred one of the Lizard lifeboat crew from the yacht back to their lifeboat before taking over the tow. The yacht was towed into the Falmouth Inner Harbour where it was safely secured at 22:25, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered on to its slipway at 22:30 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 22:50.

The yacht had been on passage from Penzance to Falmouth when it became becalmed off the Manacles, The yacht had suffered engine failure earlier in the day and as darkness set in there was concerns that the yacht would be adrift at night without any lights  so the Lizard Lifeboat was tasked to assist as the Lifeboat was returning to the Lizard from Falmouth having just towed another vessel into the port.
