Details:

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was on exercise in Falmouth Inner Harbour when at 11:18 Falmouth Coastguard requested they proceed to assist a small fishing boat with one person on board which was reported aground close to Andennis Beach, near St Mawes Castle.

The Inshore Lifeboat proceeded at 11:19 and arrived on scene at 11:22 where it was found that the boat had already been refloated. The skipper confirmed that no further assistance was required and that he was happy to head back to Mylor Harbour unaided, so at 11:28 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 11:38 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 12:00.

The fishing boat had been recovering its pots when it had ended up on the rocks near Andennis Beach. The skipper is believed to have entered the water to fend the boat off the rocks and was then able to use the boats outboard engine to head back into deeper water.
