Report of kayaker in difficulties

Location: 1 mile South of Pendower Beach, Gerrans Bay
Weather: NE 4-5, Slight Sea and Swell, Excellent Visibility, Sunny Periods
Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 14:15 / Returned 14:49) – Sandy Procter (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Chris Simpson, Lloyd Barron
At 14:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a sit on Kayaker potentially in difficulties one mile South of Pendower Beach in Gerrans Bay.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 14:15 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the east arriving at the last know position of the casualty in Gerrans Bay at 14:30. Shortly after arriving on scene the Inshore Lifeboat was advised that the casualty had managed to get back to the beach so at 14:31 the inshore lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 14:49 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 15:10.
The Kayaker had been struggling to make it back ashore due to the strong offshore winds. Wisely a number of members of the public had called 999 to report the potential predicament the kayaker had been in.
