Inshore lifeboat (Launched 12:50 / Returned 13:20) – Diane Bush (Helmsman), Jamie Connoly, Jamie Wakefield

At 12:43 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a yacht capsized near Greenbank Quay. Falmouth Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 12:50 and was requested to proceed to the Prince of Wales Pier to commence a shoreline search for any person in the water. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 12:54 and commenced its search, but shortly afterwards the Coastguard Mobile arrived at Greenbank Quay and advised that the capsized yacht was in fact between Greenbank Quay and Coastlines Wharf. The Inshore Lifeboat headed up the Penryn River and quickly confirmed that the yacht was on a mooring and was unoccupied, so at 13:10 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 13:20 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 13:30.

The yacht involved in this incident was the same one which had been reported taking water the previous day for which the Inshore Lifeboat had been launched to investigate.
