At 22:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following concerns for two people on board a yacht aground near to Greenbank Quay. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team were already on scene and had requested the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 22:22 and arrived on scene of Greenbank Quay at 22:29. It was found that the yacht had been towed clear by another vessel, but the two people remained on board. The Inshore Lifeboat escorted the vessels as they made their way up to Coastlines Wharf where they were safely secured. The Inshore Lifeboat then returned the two occupants back to Greenbank Quay before being released at 22:52 to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 22:59 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 23:15.

The yacht had broken its mooring due to the strong South-easterly conditions and had run aground at Greenbank. The two experienced people had managed to board the yacht and had assisted in rigging a tow line from the salvage vessel. Given the prevailing weather conditions there had been concern over the safety of those on board the yacht.
