Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 23:23 / Returned 00:01) – Jamie Wakefield (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Joe Amps, Jemima Henstridge-Blows

At 23:10 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a person cut off by the tide on the west side of Pendennis Point. The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 23:23 and having round Pendennis Point, arrived on scene on the west side of the headland at 23:30. The casualty had already been located by the Coastguard Team on a rock island which they were unable to reach. The Inshore Lifeboat approached the rock and recovered the casualty onto the lifeboat before they were taken to the east side of the point where they were landed on the beach near Crab Quay. Once the casualty was safely ashore at 23:50 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 00:01 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 00:15.

The rock island is only accessible from the shore at low tide so with two hours to go to high water the casualty would have had to remain on the island until nearly daybreak. Why the casualty was on the rock is not known.
