Details:

At 22:59 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched after a report was received by the Police of a person in the water at Kiln Quay in Falmouth Inner Harbour. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked to join the search which was being coordinated by the Police.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 23:07 and headed across the harbour arriving on scene at Kiln Quay at 23:13. Having discussed the situation with the Police a search was commenced between Kiln Quay and Flushing New Quay initially along the shoreline and then out through the moorings. Once this search was completed the area between Kiln Quay and Trefusis Point was searched as well. With nothing being found, no persons reported missing and no further information available the Police decided at 00:14 that the search would be called off, so the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 00:22 where it was refuelled and made ready for service by 00:45.

The initial report came from a member of the public who had been out for an evening walk when they had seen a person in the water near Kiln Quay. Once they had returned home, they contacted the emergency services as they were concerned for the wellbeing of the person. After a thorough search it is believed that the person seen had not been in trouble and had left the area prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
