At 08:34 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team in the evacuation of an injured angler from the rocks on Pennance Point, near Swanpool. Ambulance Paramedics were also on scene.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 08:41 and arrived on scene at Pennance Point at 08:48. The casualty was transferred to the inshore lifeboat and taken to Swanpool Beach where the ambulance was waiting and was safely landed by 09:15. The inshore lifeboat left the beach at 09:20 and was released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway at 09:30 where it was refuelled, rehoused and ready for service by 09:40.
The angler had been fishing from the rocks with his son when he had fallen over and suffered a head injury. Once on scene the cliff rescue team had assessed the situation and had decided that the quickest and most suitable method of evacuation was by boat so had requested the assistance of the inshore lifeboat.
