Weather: S 3, Moderate Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast

Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 15:59 / Returned 17:04) – Claire Angove (Helmsman), Jamie Wakefield, Andrew Edwards

At 15:52 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to the Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team in a search for a person believed to be in difficulties between Maenporth Beach and Pennance Point.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 15:59 and having rounded Pendennis Point headed for the Maenporth Beach where it commenced a search of the coastline from the wreck of the Ben Asdale to Pennance Point, with the Coastguards searching the cliff top and coastal path. Having carried out an extensive search from both the sea and the land at 16:48 it was decided to call off the search and all units were released to return to their stations.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 17:04 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 17:20.

The search had been initiated after a person was seen to walk out to the Ben Asdale wreck but did not return and therefore there was concern for his well-being with the incoming tide and the moderate swell. The person was not located and is believed to have made probably made their way up the cliff.
