At 07:52 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a yacht aground at Carricknath Point. The Pilot Boat LK Mitchell also proceeded to investigate.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 07:59 and arrived on scene at 08:04. A crew member was put on board the yacht and was able to confirm that it was unoccupied and appeared to have broken free from its mooring. A tow line was connected to the yacht and it was towed clear of the rocks by the Inshore Lifeboat before being taken to St Mawes where it was secured to a mooring. At 08:50 the Inshore Lifeboat had recovered its crewmember from the yacht and was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway at 09:00 where it was refuelled, rehoused and ready for service by 09:15.

The 20ft yacht Tarka of Percuil appears to have broken free from its mooring and with the ebb tide and northerly winds to have headed out of the estuary ending up on the rocks at Carricknath Point.
