Location: Between Pendennis Point and Rosemullion Head

Weather: NW 2, Calm Sea and No Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast

Inshore lifeboat (Launched 20:12 / Returned 22:20) – Neil Capper (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Diane Bush

At 20:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched to assist the police in the search of the shoreline between Pendennis Point and Rosemullion Head for a missing person. The Falmouth and Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Teams had also been tasked to assist in the search which was being coordinated by the Police and involved a number of their units including their helicopter.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 20:12 followed shortly afterwards by the All Weather Lifeboat which left its pontoon berth at 20:14. The Inshore Lifeboat commenced its search from Middle Point at 20:15 with the All Weather Lifeboat starting its search at 20:26. A thorough search of the coastline and adjacent water was carried out all the way to Rosemullion Head. At 22:05 with nothing located the seaborne search was terminated and both lifeboats were released to return to their station.

The Inshore Lifeboat being recovered onto its slipway at 22:20 with the All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 22:25, with both being refuelled and ready for service by 22:40.

The shore based search continued until midnight but was then called off until first light.
