At 17:41 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 10m Yacht Maid of Isla which had reported suffering engine failure between the Northern Arm of Falmouth Docks and Trefusis Point.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 17:48 and arrived on scene at 17:54. A towline was passed to the yacht and the weight taken to allow the skipper to recover his anchor. Once this had been completed at 18:00 the yacht was then towed up the harbour and was placed on its mooring off the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club at 18:21, the lifeboat then being released to return to its station.

The All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 18:30 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 18:40.

The Falmouth Pilot Boat had initially stood by the yacht but once it was confirmed that it had deployed its anchor the Pilot Boat was released to continue with its pilotage duties but as the yacht was on a lee shore the lifeboat then asked to launch to assist.
